My dearest little boy,
Today you turn three. I'm not sure how that happened. From the day you were born until now went so fast, but we have learned so much. You have taught me how to be a mama and I have been teaching you how to be a little man. I'm not ready for you to be three, but I'm so excited at the same time. For some reason you feel like a little boy now; less & less like my baby and so very independent. But I still see you as my baby; I probably always will. Is that weird? Does that make sense? I ask you if you're a baby, and you tell me that you're a "little man". Then I asked if you're my baby, and you say "forever mama" This makes my mama heart just swell so big it might bust right out of my chest.
When I was pregnant with you I prayed everyday that you would bring others joy. God delivered on that prayer. You are full of life and energy. You make everyone around you smile, and your laughter is infectious. You are so caring and gentle with others, but you're also a tough little boy who loves sports. Hockey is your favorite still and you want to play it all day long, everyday. I honestly can't keep up.
You're brilliant little boy. This scares me sometimes. What a heavy and delightful responsibility it is to make sure I continue to foster education in your life, but to also remind you to soak up fun.
Life with you is far more magical than I could have ever dreamed, and being your mama is by far my greatest honor. I'm looking forward to what new things you learn this year & what new "favorites" you discover. I adore you sweet boy. Happy birthday!
