Last weekend I posted this picture on twitter saying that I was in the middle of transforming our house from summer to fall. Sometimes I’ve got to mess up to clean up, and this was just the beginning of the mess. Know the feeling?
Today I want to share with you the final product (lucky for you, you get to skip the mess). When I think of fall I think of November. I’m not a big fan of Halloween. I don’t know why, but it has just never been my holiday. I don’t hate it, so I guess I just prefer the autumn aspects of fall more. So I decorate with leaves, pumpkins, and acorns. I tend to stick with traditional colors: red, yellow, orange, green, and gold.

On the couch I’ve got some brown and white pillows with ruffled amber pillows that I think look like small piles of leaves.
In the kitchen I’ve got some fall-looking tea towels.
In both the office and kitchen I’ve got my Scentsys going with some fall scents. Scentsys are a must! I would tell you what scents I have going right now but they are changing constantly. I think I have Sugar Cookie in the office and Autumn Sunset in the kitchen?
On the buffet in the dining room I always have a tray with some dishes on top and I simply spruced it up with some fall-colored napkins and gold birds. My father’s mom passed away a couple years ago and she left these gold birds for me; they are so special to me.
I also filled my hurricane with some coffee beans and a pumpkin candle (see tutorial here). The beans and candle smell so good with the sun coming through the window. I don’t even have to light the candle to smell it in the afternoon sun. Yum!

This is the dining room table. I put a green leafed table runner down the length of the table, and set the table with mutli-colored leaf place mates and whicker chargers. In the middle I added a rod iron pumpkin pillar holder.
I have two sets of autumn napkin rings (leaves and acorns) and I couldn’t decide which ones I liked more so I used both :-) For each place setting I used a brown/gold napkin with a green napkin on the inside. I think you can see a little more of the green napkins in the pictures above.
In front of the fireplace, and under the mantle I just stacked a few things: a candelabra with fall colored pillar candles, wooden acorns, a mini barrel, a milk crate, and an owl votive holder.
I put an apothecary jar filled with acorns, a ceramic gourd filled with wheat, a picture, some flowers, and a leaf votive holder on the left side of the mantle.
I put a cute feathered owl (which scares the dogs), a green gourd, a picture of the Mr and me, a leaf votive holder, and 2 apothecary jars filled with either pumpkins or pine cones on the right side of the mantle.
I think the Hawley house is ready for autumn, wouldn’t you say? Are you? What are you most looking forward to this season :-)
