There is no shortage of festivals in Houston. There has been at least one festival every weekend for the almost 5 years we have lived in Houston. There are so many festivals that I haven’t even attended a quarter of them. There is everything from cultural festivals, to different food festivals! Each one is amazing and so much fun.
Spring was, let’s just say, not very entertaining in our household. But when I had a free moment we did check out two festival-type events in Houston. In March we went to the BBQ festival at the Rodeo. The Houston Rodeo is a month-long festival filled with concerts, livestock shows, bull riding, and every food under the sun served either fried or on a stick. We went with our great friends from bible study and had an amazing time.
In April we went to the Crawfish Festival in Old Town Spring. Phil has been wanting to go to this festival since we got to Houston. One of our friends’ band was playing on one of the stages so it was the perfect excuse to head up to the festival and chow on some crawfish. I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the crawfish because it wasn’t that spicy, but then again, I like A LOT of spice and that might not be the best for the masses.
They serve 25 tons of crawfish at this festival!I know this is silly, but we always admire the skyline as we drive back home to the city, and coming back from the Crawfish festival was no different. This is where we live folks!
What types of festivals have you been to lately? Have you had some good carnival food? like fried oreos or pizza on a stick?! Those are my personal favorites lol
