Destruction Before Reconstruction: Reading Chair

I have always wanted a reading chair in our room for time to study the bible, or just some quiet time.  I knew when I was going to redo our bedroom that this was a priority for me (yes, another priority)

I got this wicker chair from a moving sale for $20, 2 years ago.  Since then it has been sitting on the back porch.  I loved it on the back porch, but I ended up redoing that over the summer and needed a place to put the chair…..perfect timing, wouldn’t you say?DSC05632-3
Here is the chair after the first coat of primer.  Ultimately, I ended up using two coats of primer, and 2 coats of white paint.

I was going to redo the seat cushion cover, but it magically matched the accent colors in the bedding, so I skipped making a new cover and just washed it instead to get all of the outside-ness off of it.  For when I’m snuggled up with a delicious book, I added an afghan to the back of the chair, and the lovely purple pillow that I mentioned to y’all a couple months ago.

Remember on Monday, I showed you my closet?  (Praise the Lord that is still clean!)  Well, when it was all clean-up, and I could finally see the floor again, I moved my large jewelry box into the closet, and placed my reading chair where my jewelry box  had been.

Here is our new reading chairDSC05713-3

This chair has been great for reading, but I think Tomlin gets the most use out of the chair.  She likes to sit here and watch me get ready in the morning :-)DSC05736-2
