Friday 5 Facts

Today I’m sharing a few random facts going on in the Hawley house and linking up with Joy at The Sowell Life.
  1. Rest- Since moving into our house we have been going non-stop with projects.  While I can’t say with complete confidence that there wont be a project this weekend, we are really looking forward to some downtime.  We have hosted a party the past two weekends and have had projects galore, so we’re looking forward to the weekend off :-)
  2. Chickens- The Mr and I have been looking into getting chickens, and it doesn’t look like too much maintenance.  Since we’ve got such a big yard now and we have been buying organic, natural eggs from a local farmer every week, we thought we could probably do this ourselves.  Does anyone else have their own chicken coop? What do we need to know about this?  Can you believe this city girl is now talking about chicken coops?!  Who am I?!  The two coop plans below are the ones I’m thinking about convincing the Mr to build (one and two). coop collage-2
  3. Puppies- Yes I’m fully aware that both of our dogs are no longer puppies since Roo turned one in December. waaaaaaaaaaa But they will always be my pups and I will always call them that.
  4. Blogging Community- This is something I had no clue about until I dove into blogging, but it has also been my support system since moving to Houston.  I love how I have been able to meet and connect with other women and develop some of the best friendships which I cherish so dearly.  For example, Joy (the host for this awesome link up, duh) I met through some blogging avenue a couple years ago.  I’m not completely sure how we met but I do know that it was instant friendship and true sisterhood.  She is a true light in my world and I am blessed to call her a best friend.
  5. The Body of Christ- Everything in the Bible has meaning and purpose.  The Lord stated that we are supposed to be in fellowship, to sharpen one another, to serve one another, and to encourage one another.  The Mr and I are blessed to be active in our church family (the body of Christ) and to be encouraged when we go through storms.  I encourage you, if you are not active in your church to find a church home.
So there ya have it: 5 random Hawley facts for your Friday enjoyment.  Click here to see what everyone else is doing today and to link up as well!
Have a great weekend friends!
xoxo Darby

1 — You AND Phil need a downtime weekend. One where it's all about you, him and the pups! No joke... just snuggle up (all 4 of you) on that gorgeous couch and veg out all weekend long. You both deserve it!!

2 — DARBY HAWLEY... chickens? I have a friend who had them and it's actually more work that you think. But I'm behind you if you decide to go for it. Just be sure you only get ONE rooster. (Sometimes it's hard to tell when they are babies and you don't want two in the same coop! ;)

3 — Roo and Tomlin will always be pups... Mar Belle will be 10 this year in May, and she is still my baby.

4 — RIght on!! My life has been blessed with our friendship, and sisterhood. And I'm so lucky to have you as a best friend that I can share all my joys and sorrows with, and more importantly, be your shoulder to lean on even when we are miles and miles apart!

5 — I saw something on instagram this morning that I want to share with you... "Do you ask for God's help only as a desperate last resort? Instead, go to him first!" I'm so proud to know that you and Phil have always gone to him, in good times and troubled. And yes, we your brothers and sisters in Christ love you and want to always encourage you everyday!

So happy you linked up today, AND I'm loving that lovebird showering all the LOVE on the blog! =) LOVE you... and HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Have you asked your puppies what they think of adding chickens to the family? LOL!!

P.S. I still call our 8 year old dog a puppy! :)

I want a chicken coop so badly! But I should warn you that you need to look into your local ordinances very thoroughly. A friend of mine in San Diego built the coop and housed the chickens only to find out that she didn't meet the minimum distance requirements. (Neighbors complained.) Cross your "T"s and dot your "I"s!

First of all- I love that super cute love owl in the corner!!! He is so cute!

2nd-why has having chickens become so trendy!? lol You should ask the Kesner's and Molly and Tim about their chickens. Apparently all my friends (and now family) are becoming obsessed with chickens. I would really talk to Molly because Tim is a no joke farmer. He could teach you everything you need to know!

You know those fur babies will always be pups--who are we kidding!?

Love you guys!

Chickens! Awesome! Before you get too far into planning - make sure its okay with your neighborhood! We can't have chickens, but my parents can - they are limited to the size of the coop though. Rules - ruin all the fun!

My mini Doxie is almost 6 years old - is getting grey on her snout and I still refer to her as puppy Lucy! It will never change. Once your baby, always your baby!

Enjoy your weekend! :)

I have chickens, but just have hens. Mine are Buff Orphingtons are are such good layers. Roosters are mean and unless you plan on hatching your own chicks down the road you don't need a rooster. I love having fresh eggs!

My family used to raise chickens, but they did it on a commercial level for Tyson. Ironically I'm the only one in my family who will eat chicken.
