How far along: 17 weeks
Fruit-size comparison: Little Peep is the size of an onion. I guess I never thought of an onion as a fruit, but it really is!
Developmental milestones: Little Peep’s skeleton is getting harder and fat is starting to get thicker around his/her umbilical cord.
Maternity clothes: Still my best friend :-) Since I’m off from work for now I am betting that when I go back in January I might need some maternity work pants. For now I’m rocking yoga pants and sweat pants. When I have to go out of the house (which I’m trying not to do at all, because that would require me to shower, do my hair and makeup and I’m just not about that right now), I’m wearing maternity jeans.
Weight gain: Since we just got back from the cruise I can’t be sure about this one yet. I have a nice food baby going on right now, so once that goes back to normal I will weigh myself; however, I’m certain that I have gained weight now, I think about 3 lbs.
Stretch Marks: Well it has happened; they have appeared. While we were on the cruise (and I was in my two-piece) there were 3 little stretch marks poking out on the underside of my belly on my right side. These aren’t my first stretch marks though. When I was younger and hit puberty I grew pretty fast, and I have some stretch marks on my thighs. So now I just have a few more to add to my body’s story. I am certain more will be coming, and I’m perfectly okay with that.
Sleep: Sleep is hit or miss. I’m a tummy sleeper normally, but this is becoming a little painful; it just feels like I’m squishing everything (which I guess I really am), so I’m on my left side now. My back is hurting more and more so I have started putting a pillow between my legs to help while I sleep. But since I’m a mover and a shaker in my sleep this ends up waking me up every time I try to move. I’m hoping I adjust to this new sleep format soon.
Best moment of the week: By far, the best moments this week were when the Mr. and I were on the cruise just sitting around, either in the sun or watching TV, and the Mr. had his hand on my belly. No words, we’re just sharing this experience together and it is my favorite part of every day (cue the tears here). Thanks to my friend Grace I also had my first prenatal massage this week…..seriously mamas-to-be out there, DO THIS! It is a life changer!
Movement: I still have not felt anything (that I know of). I mean everyone tells you what it feels like so I know intellectually, but I’ve never experienced it so I don’t know physically what it feels like. I am really anxious for this to start though and on the alert.
Cravings: I wasn’t sure if pizza was a craving or not but I’m certain it is now lol I want pizza and a salad every day, at every meal. Fruits and salads are still my favorites.
Gender: It's a girl or a boy (obviously). Did you get to vote on what you think Little Peep will be?
Belly button in or out: Innie, but less innie than it used to be
Wedding ring: It's on
Anything making you queasy/sick: I just don’t like the idea of meat right now….unless it comes in the form a sub lol
What I miss: Nada!
What I’m looking forward to: Finding out if we have a him or a her and getting started on the nursery.
Labor signs: Nope, and I'm totally okay with that
Symptoms: I think fatigue and heartburn are still my biggies. I got a lot of sleep on the cruise (sure wish banking sleep was an actual concept) and am popping Tums in the evenings like it’s my job. I have bottles of Tums in multiple places with back-ups just in case they all vanish or something. I have a little bit of a waddle going on, NOT because my belly is super large or anything, but because my back is killing me (see section on sleep above). I’m doing a lot of exercises to keep my back loose. My hunger pains have started waking me up around 3am, so I have my bowl of cereal ready before I go to bed so all I have to do is add milk when I wake up. This has not been a nightly thing, but it has happened pretty frequently.
Nursery: I have started shopping on the gender neutral stuff. I’ve started looking at cribs more seriously, any suggestions here: brands? styles?
Emotions: I still find myself fighting some anxiety as each appointment gets closer; I’m always anticipating or trying to prepare myself for bad news. I’m really fighting those emotions and trying to rely on His goodness. However, the majority of the time I’m just excited and completely obsessed with this baby.

I’m looking sooooo fine in this photo (insert extreme sarcasm)! I was determined to get my 18 weeks picture, even if I had to wake-up from a nap for it lol
Date: 12/25/13
How far along: 18 weeks
Fruit-size comparison: Little Peep is the size of a sweet potato
Developmental milestones: He/She is more and more mobile, and can now yawn, hiccup, roll, twist, kick, punch, suck, and swallow.
Maternity clothes: Since I’m on break from school, when I’m not wearing PJ’s or the Mr.’s sweat pants (which I have now claimed as my own), I am in maternity clothes, but mostly just jeans & leggings. I still don’t have any work pants, so I’m going to try and use those belly bands when I go back in a couple weeks; I’m pushing those to the limit!
Weight gain: I think still only about 3 lbs.
Stretch Marks: Well last week we thought we found 3 stretch marks…..turns out they were just lines from the sheets from when I was sleeping hahahahahahaha seriously we spend a lot of time laughing around here.
Sleep: To help my back, I’m officially sleeping with three pillows now. With the pillows I sleep well and only get up for potty breaks.
Best moment of the week: 1) It was super fun opening Christmas presents that were wrapped for Little Peep this year. I can’t wait until next year when we see his/her eyes sparkle with the magic of Christmas. 2) Also it seems like my belly has popped a little and it is super surreal for me. I’ve always been a chunky gal so that is nothing new, but my belly has never turned on the oven when I was putting something in the over-the-range microwave before; until now, that is. Every time it happens I can’t help but giggle to think that Little Peep keeps turning on the oven, and I absolutely love it. Little Peep is my sous chef already :-)
Movement: No……but I’ve been coaching Little Peep to start doing this soon, because this mamma is getting anxious.
Cravings: Pizza…..I think about it all the time. But specifically, I want Costco pizza; not the pizza you buy and bake at home, but the kind you get from the snack shack there.
Gender: We find out very very soon!!!! Time to place your bets!
Belly button in or out: It’s still an inny
Wedding ring: Well since I just got a new ring from my hubby for Christmas, I definitely have this shiney bad boy on, and I don’t plan on taking it off ever (well unless swelling happens, of course hehe)
Anything making you queasy/sick: nope!
What I miss: Nothing :-)
What I’m looking forward to: Finding out if Little Peep is a chick or a rooster
Labor signs: Thanks goodness I’m not lol
Symptoms: I have heard that pregnant women have some funny dreams, and I have had a few, but there was one I had while we were on the cruise that is still cracking me up. Apparently in my dream you can get an ultrasound in the back of Babies-R-Us for $45 (already this is hilariously sarcastic lol). Anyhow this ultrasound can see babies in 4d and color, and when the technician looked, Little Peep was sitting up and looking at us with long shoulder-length red hair, and a beard down to his collar bone that was also red and so straight that it looked like he used a hair straightener for the ultrasound lol I am still cracking up about this lol (just for the record I have had girl and boy dreams, so please don't take this dream for more than it is lol)
Nursery: This weekend I cleaned out the baby’s closet and finally unpacked the rest of our boxes from our move last year (oopsies). I keep going into the nursery to look at the closet with the little bits of baby things that we do have hung up in there. I can’t wait to add more to this room :-)
Emotions: I forgot to mention this last week, but we’re still laughing about it so I thought I would write it down. Last week when we were on our cruise, the staff clearly made a last minute decision to have a Christmas pageant. I was looking forward to it because I love all things Christmas, but I had no idea how unprepared the performers were. They were singing songs off key, forgetting the words, their dance moves were out of sync….I could go on an on, but I will stop there. But for the most part all of the other shows were so good and then this one was sooooo bad, that I couldn’t help but laugh. Then they brought the kids on the cruise to come up and sing a song, and I started balling so much that I had to use a Starbucks napkin to soak up my tears. I was so back and forth with my emotions during that one show that this has been something we have laughed about all week.
