The Very Hungry Caterpillar- FREE Download

This spring we have been all things seasons & insects.  First we worked with the letter 's' & then the letter 'i' so it was a perfect opportunity to talk about the spring and bugs.  Two of the books we worked with the most were James and the Giant Peach, for Dutch, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, for Ellis.  Each child had their own book with very similar content but at differing cognitive levels.  Since The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a little basic for Dutch, I made these handwriting cards for him to work on while I was reading the book with Ellis.  I want to share these cards with you for FREE today :-)The Very Hungry Caterpillar- Life with the HawleysHawley Homeschool

Once he wrote the numbers, I got him to place butterfly erasers in the correct number of circles.  Sometimes I got him to use a fine motor tool to place the correct number of pom poms over the caterpillar circles.  Ellis is not to handwriting just yet, but she could place the pom poms in the circles.  DSC_0051This turned out to be a really fun activity for both kids.  It also allowed me to give Dutch independent work while I was reading with Ellis.

Enjoy!
