D.C. in the Fall :-)

Houston doesn’t have seasons, so when I was told that I was going to a conference in D.C. during the fall I was not fighting it.  Not only would I get to experience fall for the first time in years, but also  I would get to see my mom and sister for the first time all year!  This was a conference I was delighted to attend to say the least.  I flew out on a Friday night and was back by Tuesday night, so it was a fast trip.  I didn’t do the touristy stuff, because growing up in Virginia I had done most of that already.  So I got to just enjoy the city with my mom and sister.
I was in awe of the leaves; so gorgeous this time of year.  Houston has palm trees or dehydrated/dead trees, so seeing the beautiful colors was such a treat for me.DSC06233DSC06240DSC06242
On Saturday my mom came up from Richmond to visit me.  Yes, I’m very aware of how alike we look ;-)DSC06243
Mom and I did some shopping and lots of talking.  We also got these drinks called Samoas and they tasted exactly like the girl scout cookie. Scrumptious!DSC06256
Chinatown….if you’ve been to NYC, D.C.’s Chinatown is completely different. lolDSC06244DSC06237D.C. was already decorated for Christmas.  It was spectacular.DSC06252DSC06253Me, mom, and Kellyn.  It was very windy in the evenings there.374812_553568423100_81900926_31391388_1033270521_n393635_553568313320_81900926_31391385_1843760778_n
We went to this awesome Pizza Pie shop for dinner on Sunday night, and I couldn’t resist my nerdy self. I had to get my picture taken :-)
Get it? Pizza pie, and pi as in 3.14?! hahahaha384320_553568273400_81900926_31391384_804079154_n
I guess I should mention that I did work while  was there. lolDSC06264
All in all, it was a delightful trip, despite being a work trip.  If' you’ve never seen D.C. in the fall, you must add it to your bucket list.
xoxo Darby
